As Special Counsel (within New South Lawyers’ Family Law and Wills & Estate Planning Law divisions) Violet has been able to bring her extensive legal experience to our firm. As an Inductee of the WA Women's Hall of Fame, Winner of Young Woman of the Year Award and Lawyer of the Year nominee, Violet’s technical brilliance and determination have seen her rise through the ranks from clerk to Legal Practice Director in under 10 years and achieve a number of prolific awards while marking these milestones.
Her 12 years of post admission experience covers family law, children and protection, estate planning and family provision claims and considering specialist accreditation in family law. She is highly competent in providing accurate and prompt legal advice and assistance from start to finish in complex financial and parenting matters. This includes matters with high conflict and domestic violence, international relocations, same-sex relationship issues, complex high asset financial settlement with complex trust structures and companies matters and arguments of “negative asset” pool, parenting disputes involving unacceptable risks allegations, financial agreements and surrogacy and donor agreements.
Violet’s advanced advocacy skills have been demonstrated through appearances in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA), the supreme court of New South Wales and the Family Court of Western Australia and local courts. In addition to her professional experience, Violet has a personal passion for community development and social cohesion, evident through her position as a Member of the WA Police Multicultural Women Leaders Network. Here, her duties included liaising with their community engagement team to develop and implement strategies and effective early interventions to address social issues especially juvenile crime and family/domestic violence. Violet also served on the Multicultural Advisory Group of the City of Wanneroo. In this role, she generally assisted the local government by providing feedback and advice on its multicultural strategies and communicating the wider community's views to the local government council.
Finally, Violet’s list of qualifications is comprehensive and extensive. In addition to currently undertaking an accredited specialisation in Family Law, she has completed a legal Practice Management Course - College of Law Perth, a Certificate in Leadership - African Leadership Initiative, membership in the Emerging Leaders on Board Program, an accredited Certificate in Leadership and is a sworn member of the Cameroon Bar Association.
